2017 Intentions

happy-new-year-2017-with-glitters

So we made it, well into the new year and hopefully our new routines. I’ve been working diligently on shaking off a lot of bad habits I picked up over time. We’re about 3 weeks in so some may be starting to feel a bit sluggish and falling back into the comfort of old habits…. DON’T!! sure our comfort zone is a cool place, but nothing ever grows there.

magic-happens

For 2017 and beyond lets drop the barrier and live! Do something a bit challenging everyday, something to better us little by little. When we have a big task at hand break it down and focus on smaller portions it wont be as overwhelming.  And before we know it that big task will be accomplished and we’ll have another notch under our belt.

Here are some things I be working on for the year.

2017 INTENTIONS

  • Start to create garments for clients -Sharping my entrepreneurial skills
  • Improve and dedicate more time to my Illustrations
  • be a consistent blogger
  • get more familiar with my camera – taking a photography class, so ill be stepping it up
  • Focus on time management
  • Continue to be interactive with other bloggers

My goal for 2017 is to live without barriers and limitations i put on myself. I want to improve my focus and maintain my momentum on being proactive. So, feel free to stop in, share life experiences and let’s motivate one another.

Happy & productive 2017 everyone

Peace & Love

2017 Menswear

Hey peeps, happy 2017 to all.                                                                                                                 how has everyone been doing? …. I’ve been putting forth such a strong effort to being committed to my goal and “staying in action” of accomplishing goals.

I wanted to tackle menswear for the longest…. So I did just that!

slaving away on creating the pattern pieces

I made my Menswear debut in a tailored single breasted blazer with double welt pockets, breast pocket, two piece sleeves, lining, complete with lapel and collar.15967176_10101621145693227_276405023_o15942883_10101621066736457_926944746_o15942913_10101621067804317_445071363_o15942983_10101621067440047_355666747_o

My first Menswear piece Pattern and sewing all done by me 😊                                                   I couldn’t be any happier or more proud of my hard work and dedication.

Thanks for stopping by, Peace & Love

Breakfast of Champs; Frogs, ✋ Hold the Procrastination

If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And If it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.

-Mark Twain

Today my Professor shared some insight one of his favorite quotes, what i get out of this….. everybody has sucky aspects of their job/ day/ life. NOTHING MAKES YOU EXEMPT TO THIS, no way around it. Get to chucking those frogs back, and procrastination just makes it worst. So just get it over with.

Reading the New York Times the other day, i stumbled across an article that inspired me. Being that I’m on a mission to drop these horrific procrastination ways. The first entitled “If You Want to Meet That Deadline, Play a Trick on Your Mind” by Phyllis Korkki {http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/01/04/business/if-you-want-to-meet-that-deadline-play-a-trick-on-your-mind.html} She made a few good points, first beginning, with the beginning. The toughest part of any task; is always to start. My mind usually wonders and transforms the task into a monstrosity the size of the Great Wall of China. That I wouldnt have the slightest inclination to dethrone. I would just let it sit there, & get higher and higher.

Good news there are tips for my fellow procrastinators. Mainly Manipulate our perception of Time but how?
Yanpin Tu, a Ph.D candidate at Booth School of Business @ the University of Chicago and Dilip Soman a marketing professor at Rotman School of Management @ the University of Toronto conducted a study with farmers in India. Divided the farmers in two groups, told them save as much money as possible in a bank account. One group’s time period was between June and Dec., the other from July to Jan. of the following yr. Farmers with the December deadline immediately opened their accounts because the deadline was viewed more as the present. Same results with undergrad & MBA students in the U.S

A different study showed people were more likely to start a task if the deadline was within that month, or the one to follow.

Tip #2; Color Code your Calendar.
Pick one color for the certain amount of days leading up to your deadline. From the start day to the last and all days throughout…… Guess it shows each day has the same urgency & everyday counts.
This technique will be new to me, with incorporating a calendar & staying on top of things. Time for my procrastination to kick rocks.

SUCCESS, BREEDS SUCCESS
take it one day at a time, little by little. Try setting shorter term goals that are aligned with the grandiose plan. Might not meet the mark today, but you’ll inch closer to landing it tomorrow.

Soon as I get up ill be chomping down those frogs, making room for whatever else may lay ahead of me.
So, bottoms up

Hope this helps you all as well, let’s knock out those goals
& as always

2013, yr of the Dragon

2013, yr of the Dragon

this beautiful struggle we call; LIFE                                                                                                                                                                                                       2013 is the yr of the Dragon, & I think its finally being tamed.

Was just sitting here, reflecting on my 2013 thus far (and latter half of 2012). Every lesson learned & experience grained. although im not where i want to be at this present moment least im thriving & making progress. One goal on my list is being more consistent with this whole blogging thing.

I stumbled across this great image today and am so inspired & compelled to create a look for it to be paired with. Especially with Halloween right around the corner, who knows what ill come up with. Im excited about the possibilities, and the opportunity to tinker away and get lost in my creativity.
