Happy Monday

Happy Monday Peeps

For this week I’m starting it off with the intention to stay focused on my goal. After I evaluated my organization skills, it led me to realize how much of my time that’s not devoted to mastering my craft or had anything to do with my passion. Which is so problematic, I made up my mind to limit distractions and find no excuses, just get to work. A technique that’s been working for me is working for 30-45 mins undisturbed. When I set out to work for a certain period it usually over flows 2 more hours of working undisturbed. It seems simple but it so true concentration and focus can only exist when distractions are eliminated. Which gets steps closer to manifesting the goal of completing this garment. This is House Of Goal after all, so I’m working towards pumping out more results

Have a productive and great week ahead, thanks for stopping by

2017 Intentions

happy-new-year-2017-with-glitters

So we made it, well into the new year and hopefully our new routines. I’ve been working diligently on shaking off a lot of bad habits I picked up over time. We’re about 3 weeks in so some may be starting to feel a bit sluggish and falling back into the comfort of old habits…. DON’T!! sure our comfort zone is a cool place, but nothing ever grows there.

magic-happens

For 2017 and beyond lets drop the barrier and live! Do something a bit challenging everyday, something to better us little by little. When we have a big task at hand break it down and focus on smaller portions it wont be as overwhelming.  And before we know it that big task will be accomplished and we’ll have another notch under our belt.

Here are some things I be working on for the year.

2017 INTENTIONS

  • Start to create garments for clients -Sharping my entrepreneurial skills
  • Improve and dedicate more time to my Illustrations
  • be a consistent blogger
  • get more familiar with my camera – taking a photography class, so ill be stepping it up
  • Focus on time management
  • Continue to be interactive with other bloggers

My goal for 2017 is to live without barriers and limitations i put on myself. I want to improve my focus and maintain my momentum on being proactive. So, feel free to stop in, share life experiences and let’s motivate one another.

Happy & productive 2017 everyone

Sweet 2016 🍨🍬🍭

image

As its the start of the new year, we have a tendency to view it as a starting page 1 in a new book. A fresh start, “New year, new me” mentality.

I view it as not a brand new start, but time to reevaluate. What worked the months prior on getting me closer to my goals. And makes adjustments where necessary. The beginning of anything can be difficult, especially when it comes to changing habits. Its way to easy to find myself in cruise control of old habits that didn’t really get me anywhere. Whether it be from procrastination, feeling unmotivated, what have you. I usually go the route I find comfortable because that’s what I know.

So since it definitely is time to shake things up a bit. Stepping out my comfort zone & staying out, more like kicking myself out where I’m the most comfy. Its unnerving & I know I’m going to be miserable {especially in the beginning}. But it has to happen, on the road to become a better me, it won’t be easy but it’ll definitely be worth it.

Here’s to making 2016 sweet 🍨🍬🍭

Drape Success 🙌🎉😊😄

I don’t usually post my progress with Draping because its so tedious & its a lot to try to explain over a typed text…… But some times when you do exceptionally well & surprise yourself, you just have to tell someone. Well all you someone’s I have great news🎉🙌😊.

We were working on draping a blazer, & life has left me feeling a bit overwhelmed these past weeks. But I stuck it out {& so glad i did.} Gaining more motivation after each stage of the drape.

This was right after I created the lapel, but right before all the difficulty of the collar set in.

I’m draping a 4 panel blazer

I would have to say the part I found the most challenging was the collar.

There’s a fashion show coming up next month, thinking about constructing this blazer, or one similar. Because I’m so excited about the whole thing. I really want to see how it would like fully done & on a model.

Draping Horrors 😱😱

After having such a huge “step back” {which felt more like the ultimate setback}, with draping these pants. I was so frustrated and over everything.

In class, i got up to the part of changing the dart into a yoke & decided to put the front & back of the pants leg together before clipping the back to attach the yoke….. & That. Was. When. Disaster Hit {pause for dramatic effect}

Before I even put the pant on the dress form, the side seam of the front was going up as the back layed straight. I initially thought there may have been an error due to me rushing, so I decided to undo it & assemble it on the form. {Didn’t get any better} in fact, it got worst!! The grains {Grains= the threads of the fabric} were pulling every direction, fabric wasn’t laying flat & was extremely tight. {I’m making tapered pants}.

It was a complete mess. I know you must be thinking why didn’t I take a picture, would be a lot easier to explain…. Which definitely is true, but I was so flustered & aggravated I took the whole thing off and left. Was so bummed nothing added up & would have to start the whole thing over. I was PISSED 😈.

So that was yesterday, {brighter days} Today 🌞. I prepared the muslin, took my time {more like the appropriate time, this is due on Tues. After all 😂} & proceeded to drape. Figuring out where I went wrong which was pulling both sides of the fabric against the form. Instead of gently gliding my hand to feel for the side seams.

Today’s progress is so much better & I feel a lot better about the pants. Have a deeper understanding of tapered, skinny jeans & pants as a whole.

image

& believe me I have enough horrors with pants to fill up a trilogy set of novels, cover to cover.
So glad I stuck with it, didn’t give up & learned so much through my experience.

As always thanks for stopping

Transformation Tuesday

Been a long time coming, feel so happy with how this one came out. Not only with the result but the process of progression, I’m thrilled!! For the longest this was how I left it….

image

Far from complete, she just sat there. full of potential & stuck. Reminding me of while ME. Its crazy how art imitates life, & life imitates art. {I never even realized just how close to home my creative process has hit.}

So after feeling stuck in this rut, I decided to pick myself up again and get to it. I took the necessary time with each & every aspect, looked up techniques online. YouTube was definitely my Savior 🙌🙌

Eye 2.
Once I felt good about my eye & lip options, I redid them one more time.

The hair on the other hand, was quite the challenge. Worked on it for 2 days alone, went over it about 4 times.

Hair after the 3 time of trying to get it right.

& this is my final product, love how natural it seems to flow and am just all around elated by everything. It has really been a labor of love. So glad to be breaking bad habits of starting but not finishing. Looking forward to developing this into a pattern moving forward.

As always Peace & Love,
