Let your passion out weigh your fear💗

image

With that being said, I really do love fashion illustration. Something about filling that blank page with colorful ideas; expression, curvey dancing lines. All based on designs that’ll come to life in the near future. This fills me with so much joy and excited eagerness to follow through to finish. But at the same time I’m stuck at a stand still worried that my next move won’t be my best move.

Im petrified that through my experiment process I’ll completely ruin things. So I literally freeze & don’t bother. This, {I’m starting to realize} does nothing but add to my procrastination, and lack of time management.

Im currently working on my fear of ruining things and just trust the “Live & Learn” theory. Got to trust myself more, remember its fun and enjoyable. & that’s the beauty of art

image

& I for one have created a lot of “Birds” :)🐦🐥🐧 RIP the legendary Bob Ross.

image

I honestly don’t even know why I’ve been such a punk, its still a work in progress but its finally in motion of completing phase 1. Best part of inspiration aside from getting struck and excited is actually finishing :)😄😄💗 & I’m getting closer to that goal.

image

So let’s REDEFINE FEAR & get things done. Bulldoze through that shit #TeamGoGetter :).

As always thanks so much for stopping by,

Work In Progress

image

Not where I want to be, but thankful I’m not were I was. 🙌🙌🙌 Did some minor tweaking to the girls, still have to add color to their clothes….. Have every intention on seeing this through.
Especially after hanging out with my nieces & nephews the other day. I realized just how much they look up to me, in all honest I want to be a great role model for them. One who finishes all that I start, & trys my best through it all.

OK now back to these sketches, I used PrismaColor markers & color pencils. Mainly “cool grey 40%” for the shadowing.

First bag 😄:)

So I made a bag, 👜

My first attempt at a tote & it came out great. I honestly was afraid it might have came out looking like somebody’s grandma couch…. I’m so elated that’s not the case. 😄:)😄

image

Straps handles are 12 inches

image

I used a Teal colored Taffeta for the lining.

image

Completed with a 9 inch, close, metal teal zipper. The pocket is 9 inches wide and about 6 inches deep.

image

This tote is 15 inches tall, 16 1/2 wide. With 2″ wide straps that are a foot long. As well as an inner 9″ pocket paired with a zipper closure.

Giving the old Bad Habits a rest

As the sun sets on 2014 some things I’ve been struggling with to switch up is my procrastination, lord knows my lack of time management is the works of 👹 devil 😂. And self-doubt, im not as bad with it compared to me being a procrastinator. People tell me “I work well under pressure” they must mean the end result, cause the process is torture. So why give myself more added on stress. {Procrastination At Its Finest}

image

Another thing I definitely want to leave behind in 2014 is the inconsistency in my work with blog. Between school and all its work, side projects…… I need to stop making excuses. Like Nike says, JUST DO IT!  Guess this post applies to me in more ways than one. I can pretty much relate to all things listed.

I have started living by my mantra;

image

No more excuses, just results. Lord willing of course

I Wishing everyone nothing but GREATNESS, SUCCESS & PURE POSITIVITY into 2015 & beyond

Halloween; Showing my True Unicorn Form

image
Just your average everyday Unicorn 👀😜😜

Just your average everyday Unicorn 👀😜😜. For Halloween this year I decided to shed my human suit & but in decked out in my full Fabulous Unicorn self.
I decided to create a 2 layer, 9 panel corset, including a layer of boning. Out of white Silk

image

Aside from the trim, I wanted to add more embellishment. So I added stones along with the trim

image

My original plan was to have purple and blue stones added, since I would have feathers in my hair.

image

I was going to add these stones all over, front & back. Have it complement the trim without competing with the trim. I just felt as if the blue wasnt the proper color to add. At least, not alone….

image

For my bottoms I decided to create boy shorts, this picture is before I added the 1″waistband & tail.

image

Finished product back.

image

Finished product, Corset complete with boy shorts, tail & of course what would a unicorn be with her horn?!!?

All together this costume took about 20hrs from start to finish. Wasn’t able to
execute everything as planned, but I’m thrilled with the turn out nevertheless. 😄😄:)
Happy Halloween!!!

Labor Day fun :)😄

This yr for labor day I just planned for the day to just pass by. About a week or so to the day; I got hit by that labor day bug. A little late in the game, but just as festive than ever.

So I decided to create a Jamaican flag bandu. A sweetheart neckline, with 3 straps on each side. & two elastic strips running along the back. Only thing,  getting all those angles aligned was a headache.

image

This was my top in the process of being constructed. Before I added straps & the elastic in the back. My main concern at this point was getting everything even out. Creating the perfect mirror image.

image

Finished product, I was very thrilled with the outcome. (I customized the boots as well).

image

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday, I had a BLAST!!!!

“Try & fail, but don’t fail to try”

image

In my progression to become a Fabulous Fashion Designer; I must have attempted to construct pants four/five times, with succeeding only once Lol. Constructing these pants from scratch however, has proven to be a more difficult undertaking than I initially thought. But, IT’S NOT IMPOSSIBLE!!! Going along with the saying; “Mistakes are proof that you are trying.” I am going to persevere, working through these mistakes.

Draft made out of muslin.

image

Normally when an aspect of my design doesn’t go according to plan; I get frustrated, flustered, and a bit discouraged. At the moment I feel none of these usual negative emotions. After analyzing the circumstances of my latest design mishap, a rush of inspiration has come over me. The cognitive wheels of my imagination are pumping full speed ahead.

I’m deciding to scrap my original idea, going further with what may be an even better concept. {Meaning tomorrow I’ll be due for a quick fabric run.} If the saying holds true; that “all things happen for a reason,” one reason for these reoccurring “stumbles” is to show growth. No longer deterred by self-doubt, through the folds of my evolution of personal greatness I’m learning it’s all a learning experience.

image

My persistence is key, and giving up is not an option. So onward and upward with Faith, Hard Work, & Dedication.

Chronicles of Fashion Design

Slower but surely overcoming those obstacles of patternmaking.

Guess this would be the opportune time for me to attempt to define the fashion terminology of patternmaking. The process of manipulating the pattern paper from a one dimensional to two dimensional shapes. Durning the patternmaking process we create Drafts; which correspond with measurements from dress forms/models, these are the basic foundation. Next there’s the Flat Patterns, this is where the manipulation takes place; through slash, spread and the pivot techniques. The patterns that are manipulated become the Working Patterns and are the bases of the design.

My relationship with patternmaking has always been one of loathe and frustration, but necessary for my fashion design process. Now looking back at it, the negative feelings of frustration towards patternmaking was due to literally tripping over my own lines. It was a never ending battle with paper, tracing over my slopers. I rarely would ever get the shapes right, I guess its because I was more comfortable with draping. When I drape I get a better feel for the creation of the garments, providing me with a clearer picture of how everything will turn out.

That was what patternmaking was like back than; now its great, signs of improvement. I’m still anxious about how the fit of garments will turn out. Maybe my meditation has all my patternmaking chakras a line,:)😄 Lol. Who knows, maybe patternmaking will be my new thing…. 💭

This is an example of the pair of pants I’m currently creating the pattern for. Its a pair of slacks with a peplum at the waist, but mine will have a little twist…..

Oooo the JOYS of Fashion Design :)😄😄😜:)
